AIM:

The aim of this programme of study is to give recognition to the knowledge, skills and abilities required for person-centred support in the Health and Wellbeing sector. To equip learners with the necessary professional attitudes and provide practical hands-on-learning through work integrated learning that provide organisations within the health and wellbeing sectors with graduates who have the skills, knowledge and behaviours required to work alongside people, family and/or wh膩nau accessing social and community services, in a self-managing capacity and under broad guidance. 

PROGRAMME CONTENT:

The programme integrates theory, placement and self-study. This provides learners with foundational knowledge, practice and experience that can be applied to various roles within the health and wellbeing sector.

The course content consists of a Unit Standard structure and various Modules, such as:

Effective Communication and Advocacy in Health

Te Tiriti o Waitangi and M膩ori Health Contexts

Personal Development and Reflective Practice in Health

Professionalism, Safety, and Quality in Health Organisations 

Community Health Work Strand

Community Health Work Sector

Personalisation of Strategies for Specific Health Goals

Proficiency in applying tools and strategies

Design and Implement Strategies
