About the scholarship
Established in 2021 by the University of Otago with support from a generous donation by the Greer family and friends, the scholarship is named after Dr Andrew Greer, a Consultant in the Intensive Care Unit at Christchurch Hospital who passed away suddenly in January 2019. Dr Greer, of Ng膩ti Kahungunu descent, had a particular interest in positive health outcomes for M膩ori.
Entry requirements
Applicant must be:
- a current undergraduate University of Otago Health Sciences student wishing to undertake an honours year, or pursue other programmes of post-graduate study in the year following application;
- a student, M膩ori or non-M膩ori, wishing to further their research in an area specific to M膩ori health and wellbeing. If the applicant is a junior doctor, it is not a requirement that they are a graduate of the University of Otago.
The following factors shall be considered in selecting the Scholarship:
- academic performance in the years preceding application;
- other potential to conduct excellent research, as evidenced by research or relevant work positions held, publications, academic references.
