About the scholarship

Applications are invited for two Research Master's Thesis 91视频 at either Massey University or University of Canterbury starting in February 2026. Research 91视频 are for a Marsden-funded project ‘Reduce, reuse, repair’. The successful candidates will work with Professor Kelly Dombroski (Massey University) and/or Dr Matthew Scobie (University of Canterbury) on a project that explores how community organisations help people to work together to reduce waste. Topics include traditional repair practices in Te Ao M膩ori, design of tools in relation to te taiao, and strategies for addressing wasteful product design from a M膩ori perspective.

Entry requirements

The successful candidate will have an undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline. University requirements are for students to have a B+ GPA or demonstration of equivalent competency. We strongly encourage applications from students interested in reducing waste and sustainability, M膩ori students who have an interest in te taiao and te reo, and students who are interested in, or have experience in, working with M膩ori communities or community organisations in practical contexts.
